Brief

This property is situated in the diverse community of Redfern. Once an area not so desired, this cosmopolitan suburb has been overhauled by local Government to become a hive of activity in a sought after area.  Public transport at the door step, only 3kms south of Sydney’s CBD and an easy walk to all amenities  Redfern is a very property inner city suburb.

This particular brief is popular amongst many Real Living Interiors clients.  The home owners were heavily involved in sourcing products and materials.  They knew what they liked and how they wanted their townhouse to appear.  What they did not know was were the choices they were making, going to give them the look and feel they were wanting at the end of the renovation.

Real Living Interiors was bought in for independent  consultative design support.  Real Living Interiors collaborated multiple times throughout the project with the home owners, finalising fixtures and surfaces, tweaking the colour design, and steering the clients in a direction that avoided costly mistakes.

The consequence of choice is always discussed with clients during a renovation,  and the knock on effect choices have across a build. The client for example has mixed hardware in this project. The client made a conscious decision to only want black finishes in the kitchen, yet the hardware throughout the house was gold.  This was an informed decision and one the client was happy with.  Design should not be about the designer, but a design that is individualised for the homeowner. Our philosophy is it should be “a design that suits you”.
