Killara 2

Brief

This family home was a large traditional Federation property. The owners wanted to extend and renovate the back end of the house to include an open plan indoor outdoor entertaining space, modernise the kitchen and family space and update furnishings. The brief was to amalgamate the house where old met new, and offer a design solutions to meet the clients lifestyle.

Coupled with engaging cabinet makers, builders and trade to project manage and pull together a design that suited the clients, the inspiration for all fixtures, surface selection and palette were inspired from the original heritage style black and white checkerboard tessellated tiles that were seen from the entry, leading into the new area. To link the original area of the house, limestone flooring was used to extend the palette from the entry. As the client desired a design that embraced clean lines and easy living, the extension, including the kitchen/laundry was a mixture of textured products that bought the home together through a common link. The palette, and replicating natural stones that were used in other areas of the original house.
