Killara 2
Brief
This family home is a large traditional Federation property. The owners sought to extend and renovate and extend the rear of the house to create an open plan indoor outdoor entertaining space, modernise the kitchen and family area, and update the decor.
Real Living Interiors role was to create a way through interior design, to amalgamate the older part of the home to the new contemporary open plan style extension. Our job included providing kitchen, indoor and outdoor cabinetry and entertainment designs,, specify all surface selections, and of course, consider the palette. The home was repainted internally and externally and interior styling services required.
The inspiration for the renovation was inspired from the original heritage style black and cream checkerboard tessellated tiles that were seen from the entry, leading into the new extension. To link the original part of the house to the extension, limestone flooring was used creating a seamless palette from the entry to the rear of the home. The darker polytec woodgrain surfaces having synergy with the tessellated tiles in the hallway. The kitchen located to the side of the open plan layout and the laundry, once blocking the view of the backyard, moved to integrate with the kitchen hidden behind bifold doors. The outdoor area, once user unfriendly, turned into an entertainers delight.
